Projects

Philadelphia Eagles - Gatorade Sports Nutrition Immersion Program Project

To fulfill my fellowship requirements, the Performance Nutrition team identified the need for specific nutrition protocols. I researched and created protocols for a variety of common injuries including traumatic brain injury (TBI), soft tissue and immobilization injuries. These protocols were implemented into an athlete's return to play program during the 2018-19 football season. I presented my work at the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association's 11th Annual Conference.

Framingham WIC -
Dietetic Intern

While interning with the Framingham WIC Program, I helped host an episode for WIC's Good Food Project youtube channel and Access Framingham TV. The show is where parents and kids learn how to cook and eat healthy. Homemade empanadas with two dipping sauces were created and taste tested.

NC State Sports Nutrition - Nutrition Intern

While interning with NC State Sports Nutrition, I helped host a nutrition booth once a month at the training table for athletes at the university. For these nutrition booths, another intern and I created educational nutrition handouts based on the months topic picked by our boss. At the booths we educated the athletes on the topics while athletes taste tested food items chosen based on the booth nutrition topic.

Meredith College - Practicum in Nutrition Project

To fulfill my graduation requirements, I completed a supervised field experience with NC State Sports Nutrition working with the women's basketball team. I completed at least 150 hours working with the team to gain food and nutrition knowledge as they apply to athletics. This experience helped me transition from graduate student to the professional field by allowing me to practice my knowledge, skills and dispositions gained through previous courses.

NC State University - Senior Capstone Experience in Nutrition Project

To fulfill my graduation requirements, I worked with a group of students to complete a research and service project with NC States Sports Nutrition and Strength and Conditioning to gain a professional experience in nutrition. Our research sought to find the relationship between nutritional habits and overall athletic performance in collegiate football athletes. During this experience we applied our knowledge and skills gained throughout our nutrition coursework. The research was presented as a poster presentation to faculty.
